A little tale of the "extra button"

There once was a writer who thought building a website for the first time would be akin to exploring a new hiking trail – it might test your stamina, but the effort feels good. Fresh air, new sights, personal development. And, you’ve got a map – the tutorials made it look manageable. (Thank you, kind Youtube sages!)

Well…

This website was like an enchanted forest with a mind of its own. That tests anyone who enters to make sure they’re worthy of passing through… And boy, did it test me.

Long story short, I think we’ve reached an amicable relationship now. And the turning point was this button. The one that the template layout did not want to work without.

So, one day I simply decided to embrace a button with no particular use and make the best of it. And suddenly, the gusts of frustration died down, the heavy clouds of failure parted, and shining rays of playfulness streamed in. The mischievous website spirits decided to work with me.

Funny enough, this idle nook is now my favorite place on the website.

It holds a future surprise. A reminder that you’re always a work in progress. A prospect that the creative journey will expand to have a need for this button. Maybe it’ll become a responsible “Latest news” account, or a more free-spirited “Blog” page.

Or maybe it will just stay its glorious unfettered self, if only to serve as a memo to embrace the fun of imperfections.

Give those extra buttons in your life some love.
